Curriculum vitae
Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Goeschen

Prof. Dr. Klaus Goeschen was born in 1948 in Kiel (Germany) and studied medicine at the University of Kiel and Lübeck from 1966 to 1972. He received his obstetrical and gynecological training at the Martin-Luther-Hospital Berlin (Medical Director Prof.Dr.Gerhard Martius). Scientifically he was working in the fields of ovarian cancer, inflammation, twins, breech presentation and assessment of gestational age in premature babies. With Prof. Martius he published his first textbook about “Obstetrics and Gynecology in Question and Answer” and wrote several chapters for other textbooks.

From 1979 to 1985 he was holding the position of Assistant Professor at the Free University of Berlin Department Unit of Perinatale Medicine (Medical Director Prof.Dr.Erich Saling). Scientifically he was working in the fields of prostaglandins, oxytocin, cardiotocography, fetal blood analysis, hypotension in pregnancy, induction of lung maturity, drug treatment in pregnancy, caesarean section, epidural anaesthesia, fetal dystrophia and diseases in pregnancy. During this time he published more than 100 scientific papers and gave more than 160 lectures in various countries of the world. In 1979 the first edition of his book  “Cardiotocography Practice “ was published. The 6th edition has been available since 2004. Clinically he was working as assistant medical director at the the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology at the  Berlin Neukölln Hospital, in which the above mentioned unit of Perinatal Medicine was included. With more than 3000 deliveries and  more than 5000 operations per year this hospital was one of the biggest in Germany.

In connection with his university lecturing qualifications he worked at the Cornell University in New York with Profs. Dr. Anna-Riita and Fritz Fuchs. This cooperation resulted in numerous scientific publications and lectures. In 1984 he got the “Venia legendi” and the titel of “Private Lecturer” at the Free University of Berlin.
From 1985 to 1995 he was holding the position of  assistant medical director at the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology, University of Hannover (Medical Director Prof.Dr. Jörg Schneider and Prof.Dr. Adalbert Majewski). He focused mainly on non-invasive, organ-preserving laparoscopy and vaginal reconstructive pelvic surgery as well as cancer surgery. In cooperation with Dr. Pluta  he developed the first computer program for the Perinatal Data Base in Germany. In 1989 he obtained the position of a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Hannover.
From 1995 to 2001 he was Medical Director at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Klinikum Osnabrück. He set up his priorities in vaginal, abdominal and laparoscopic reconstructive pelvic surgery. In cooperation with Prof.Dr. Peter Petros, Perth Australia, he created new vaginal, minimal-invasive operative techniques for reconstructive pelvic floor surgery on the basis of the Integral Theory and performed the first operations in Europe. Since 2000 he has been Preceptor of the AustralAsian Association of Vaginal and Incontinence Surgeons (AAVIS).

Recent Position

In order to concentrate on reconstructive surgery, Prof.Dr.Klaus Goeschen gave up his position as clinical director at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Klinikum Osnabrück and took over the position of head of the “Kvinno Center Germany”  and the “Center of Bladder and Pelvic Floor Repair at the Eilenriedeklinik Hannover, Germany”. With his new techniques based on the Integral Theory he is able to cure Pelvic Floor Problems, which, up to now, have been uncurable. These problems include Urge, Frequency, Nocturia, Faecal and Urine Incontinence, Voiding problems, pain during sexual intercourse and in the deep pelvis in a high percentage.
Since 2000 he has published 14 articles in major specialized journals.  He regularly lectures on the treatment of pelvic floor problems and trains colleagues in life surgery work shops. In addition, he has physically performed advanced pelvic surgery in many countries. During the last 2 Years he has been invited to Spain, Switzerland, Austria,  France, Turkey, Iran, Australia and Greece. With more than 1000 vaginal, minimal-invasive reconstructive pelvic floor operations he is one of the most experienced experts in this new field.
